You will be responsible for the searching and comparison of crime scene marks and the verification of identifications to second check level for the region in accordance with the accredited Bureau and National systems to support the detection and reduction in crime.
You will attend mortuaries and major crime scenes, when required, to establish identity and to maximise the recovery of fingerprint evidence. You will communicate scientific findings effectively in the context of the case, both in writing and by the provision of oral testimony in court.
*Successful completion of the Advanced Fingerprint Course
*Be a registered Fingerprint Expert
*Proven experience of utilising the National Fingerprint database to undertake crime scene and tenprint searches
*Experience of producing accurate written information that demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
*Proven experience of utilising computerised fingerprint databases such as IDENT1
*Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels
*Be self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
*Ability to work under pressure with demanding workloads and deadlines
*Demonstrate innovative approach and logical process of solving problems and making reasoned decisions
*Sound knowledge of the forensic processes and how they contribute to crime investigation and the criminal justice system
*A good standard of computer literacy and a working knowledge of windows software including Microsoft Word
*Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive /illicit material
*Knowledge of the Streamlined Forensic Reporting (SFR) protocols
