Financial Reporting Manager

An interesting new opening has arisen at a government department for an experienced accountant to join the finance department and play a key operational role in the preparation, reconciliation and integrity of the department’s consolidated accounts.

This position will support team leaders in delivering a professional financial service in relation to the production of the various statutory accounts (including the Annual Report & Accounts, Whole of Government Accounts returns and HM Treasury returns). This includes maintenance and production of the notes and schedules, and the ability to build and maintain close working relationships with the key stakeholders. Among other things, you will assist in the production of the department’s consolidated accounts, and the production of the Main and Supplementary Estimate returns.

You should be a part-qualified or qualified accountant, with good technical accounting knowledge. You will need excellent Excel skills and the ability to review and analyse large data sets in order to identify relevance to the task at hand. As you will be working with a range of people, strong verbal and written communication skills will be very important, as will be the ability to rapidly form effective working relationships as you will need to collaborate and partner to deliver on time.
