Aspire Cambridge are recruiting for a Financial Planning Graduate Trainee on behalf of our client based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
This position is initially a two-year structured training programme combining on the job training with the professional exam qualification you will need to develop your career in financial planning. All your exam costs and study support will be covered by our client, in addition to your salary.
You will initially study the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. This initial qualification involves the following 6 exams:
(R01) Financial services, regulation and ethics;
(R02) Investment principles and risk;
(R03) Personal taxation;
(R04) Pensions and retirement planning;
(R05) Financial protection; and
(R06) Financial planning practice.
Once you have completed the diploma you can continue with further studies with the CII such as going on to becoming a fully qualified Chartered Financial Planner. Alternatively, you could go on to study with other examining bodies such as the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments) Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification. Again, our client will pay for further qualifications in addition to your salary.
The role of a Financial Planning Graduate Trainee involves a wide variety of activities. Not only must the candidate demonstrate strong analytical skills, but they must also demonstrate attention to detail, problem solving and good administrative skills. Computer literacy and good communication are also important. The person appointed to this role will be provided with training and mentoring from senior team members. The responsibilities of the role include:
Gaining a strong understanding of the financial services industry and the process of providing people with financial advice.
From day one you will be working on real client cases learning all about pensions, investments and insurance products.
Contacting product providers to gather detailed information about clients' financial products.
Inputting information on to specialist financial planning software and using sophisticated research tools to help paraplanners and advisers provide clients with high quality financial advice.
Supporting paraplanners and advisers in requesting quotes, completing application forms and dealing with any communications on your client cases.
Liaising directly with clients and product providers on a variety of financial issues.
Assisting advisers with meeting preparation and undertaking reviews of clients' investment portfolios.
Placing trades on client portfolios on various investment and trading platforms.
In your second year, you will begin to research financial products, start making recommendations to clients and write basic reports.
A good candidate should:
Have achieved or be expected to achieve at least a 2:2 in their chosen degree.
Have a real interest in financial services and show a desire to learn about investments and the financial advice process.
Be interested in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.
Demonstrate the ability to manage their own time effectively and work to deadlines.
Have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and work well in a team as a whole.
Have great attention to detail.
