About the role

We’re recruiting now for a Financial Ledger Controller to join our Chesterfield team on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

As a Financial Ledger Controller, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger in accordance with Group policy, financial reporting standards, and best accounting practice. In this exciting and high-pressure role, you’ll facilitate and review the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, working with business units and taking actions to resolve issues accurately and to strict deadlines.

Working with Ledgers and financial journals across the whole of Royal Mail Group, you’ll have exposure to all parts of the business, liaising with a wide range of people from junior administration to senior stakeholders. You’ll also run the accounts for Royal Mail’s dedicated recruitment partner, Angard Staffing, and interact with the Post Office.

The fixed term contract for this role will be for circa 9-10 months, dependent on start date.

About you

To be truly successful in this role, we need;

•    A qualified or part qualified accountant (i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

•    Stakeholder management and business partnering experience

•    Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to a variety of people at all levels

•    Financial accounting systems experience, preferably SAP

•    Competent in Excel, experienced in lookups and pivot tables as a minimum

•    Proven track record of working to deadlines under pressure

•    An understanding of variance analysis
