Financial Controller

As part of the Gilcrest Group, Stancold Plc is an established business based in Bristol which covers the UK installing specialist composite panels. We are cold store specialists that offer unrivalled support from conception, design, installation, commissioning, sign off and beyond.

We are currently looking for a Financial Controller to join our existing organisation who's main purpose is to produce timely, accurate management information for the consolidated Gilcrest Group and to ensure that the internal financial controls are adequate and effective.

The role is wide and varied and includes the following responsibilities:

  • Production of monthly management accounts (including supporting information)
  • Production of monthly WIP and contract performance reports (including an analysis by individual project manager)
  • Production of monthly KPI’s
  • Production of overhead analysis reports (with recommendations for appropriate cost reductions)
  • Monitor and update group cash-flow forecast
  • Line management responsibility of finance team members
  • Identification and development of effective and appropriate internal financial controls
  • Development of financial policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts
  • External stakeholder management (including customers, suppliers and sub-contractors), to include conflict resolution when required
  • Provide assistance in the management of the annual external audit

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Professional qualified accountant, either ACCA or ACA
  • Previous experience of dealing with external stakeholders
  • Previous experience of working with construction contracts (including JCT and NEC) and an understanding of the valuation process
  • Previous experience of managing a team (including undertaking performance reviews)
  • Significant accounting experience in a busy, progressive and tightly managed SME business, including: monthly reporting, annual budget preparation and cash flow monitoring
  • Extensive experience of computerised accounting systems (Equi2 and Sage line 200 desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience of financial control within the construction sector

Salary & Benefits

Salary -£35,000 to £42,000 (depending on experience)

Holidays - 25 days & bank holidays
