Financial Controller required

Cardiff

Salary of £45,000 - £65,000 per annum

NOW Careers is exclusively looking to recruit on behalf of an SME Medical Company based in Cardiff who due to a period of growth within the business is looking for a dynamic and hands on FC to join their team . Reporting into the Group FD, this role is a excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a business at a truly exciting time, with a view to progressing into a FD when the time is right!

Summary of the key duties and responsibilities of the new Financial Controller

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts packs for the individual subsidiaries and the consolidated group
  • Design and implement improvements to the current management information systems
  • Preparation of monthly stock movement reports and liaison with stock controller to reconcile month end stock balances
  • Preparation of first draft year-end subsidiary statutory accounts
  • Assist FD with preparation of interim and year end PLC consolidated accounts
  • Liaison with auditors
  • Supervision of Finance Assistants including review of VAT returns, stock purchases and credit control
  • Calculation of monthly US and UK sales staff commissions and liaison with payroll bureaux
  • Quarterly/monthly grant funded expenditure returns
  • Recording and monitoring of subscription and other deferred income
  • Preparation of VAT returns and sales tax and other returns required in various US territories
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and flexed budgets
  • Assistance with tenders and ad hoc reports
  • Preparation of ad hoc returns required by the Office for National Statistics
  • Eventually - preparation of monthly payroll, monthly and annual returns

Ideal candidate profile

  • Accountancy qualification or Qualified by (Considerable) Experience
  • Experience of Sage and introducing improvements to management information reporting
  • Team player but capable of working unsupervised
  • Hands-on approach to getting the job done
  • Staff management and motivation skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Sense of humour
