THE OPPORTUNITY

THE ROLE

The Financial Controller will be a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, responsible for ensuring the business has adequate financial and balance sheet controls in place. You will be responsible for the Financial Accounts and the Ledger Team across multiple sites, with a large multi-million-pound turnover. Optimising the cash and working capital position of the business. Inputting into the development and delivery of functional and business objectives, and, representing the business externally as required.

- To review and develop the financial control system, ensuring that it is adequate and is being consistently applied such that decisions are appraised prior to action and outcomes are analysed.

- To act as the custodian of the Business Balance Sheet. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are understood, that balances are justified and that reconciliations are of a high standard.

- Develop suitable financial procedures to optimise working capital. Develop reporting techniques to express working capital and cash performance. To review and understand actual cash performance and forecast short-term cash requirements. Influence the key drivers of working capital and control creditor payments in order to achieve overall cash targets.

- To lead the interactions with group functions, (e.g. internal audit, tax department) and external parties (e.g. external audit) as required. Ensure that reporting and control systems are reviewed and modified to comply with group standards.

- To oversee the month end process. Ensure the process is robust and efficient and that all deadlines are met. Monthly to Weekly differences are fully understood and corrective actions are put in place to minimise and differences that do occur.

- To co-ordinate the generation of the overhead, cash and balance sheet elements of the rolling forecast, and review the results to ensure they are robust and supported by sound assumptions.

- To ensure that there is clear and accurate financial performance reporting (normally overheads, working capital, cash or balance sheet related) in place and to manage the periodic reporting process, ensuring that the information generated is used to challenge performance and drive action. To generate ad-hoc information, (normally overheads, working capital, cash or balance sheet related) to support the analysis of business performance.

- To review the financial systems to ensure they are operating and are being used efficiently and

- To manage the Financial Accounts & Ledger function. To recruit, lead, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve personal development and continual improvement.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will have a professional accountancy qualification (FCA/ FCCA/ ACCA/ ACA/CIMA)

You will be an experienced Financial Controller with the ability to communicate effectively and be able to influence at all levels of the organisation.
