Financial Controller – Newly created position with prospects to develop into Finance Director in the medium term. Fast-growth group of leisure companies on the Fylde Coast.
Your new employer
A well-established group of companies within the leisure sector have experienced a year-on-year turnover increase with further growth forecasted. This has resulted in a restructure of the finance team and a new Financial Controller position has now been created, sitting on the Senior Management team. Prospects are excellent: this position is initially number 2 to a highly experienced Finance Director who will act as a mentor to ensure a smooth transition into the FD role due to their retirement in the medium term.
Your role in your new job
Whilst there will be adequate support from the FD, there is a good level of autonomy in this role as you will take responsibility for a small finance team with the view to grow the team in the next 18 months.
Typical duties include the production of monthly management accounts; budgeting and forecasting; overseeing costings; detailed gross profit analysis; and liaising with non-finance staff to deliver meaningful financial information. You will also be involved in a number of upcoming projects related to growth plans, system implementation and introducing procedural changes to maximise efficiency.
Your experience and our requirements
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and technically strong Management Accountant seeking more autonomy in a broad role whilst maintaining a “hands on” remit. Ideally you will be CIMA/ACCA qualified although consideration will be given to applicants with sufficient and relevant experience in a similar role. Strong systems skills are essential (pivots, lookups and ideally macros) and you will be able to demonstrate staff management or supervisory experience. It is desirable that you will have experience within the service industry, in particular the leisure sector.
Your future as the successful candidate
This business boasts on impressive staff retention levels which are achieved through offering diverse roles, comprehensive development/training and in turn, career advancement opportunities. Alongside these benefits, there is a generous benefits package including annual pay reviews as well as a 10% performance related bonus; 5% employer pension contribution; 30 days annual leave + bank holidays; and flexibility around working hours.
