Financial Controller

This is a long established engineering company that offers a great company atmosphere so much so that people have strong loyalty and many people stay with this employer for many years. he holiday entitlement is 25 days plus bank holidays. They are on the business park and close to cafes and bus routes etc.

The role will see you with two people reporting in and working within a growing company that will potentially offer opportunities within the group as well as the company, long term. You will report to the Chief Operating Officer who himself is a qualified accountant (CIMA) and so we are looking for a qualified accountant. I guess CIMA would be ideal but also ACA or ACCA and we would look at strong qualified by experience (QBE) accountants. The key thing is that you have to have experience from within an engineering or manufacturing company.

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role

To head up the day to day financial activities of the company including cash flow, accounts production, setting and monitoring targets, auditing and overseeing all regulatory and compliance issues. Report relevant financial information to senior management. Development of the finance team to support the growth strategy of the business.

Key duties:

1.Manage and coordinate company financial reporting, internally & externally

2.Monitor and analyse monthly/annual operating results against budget/forecast

3.Responsibility for stock accounting and manufacturing variance analysis

4.Prepare financial analyses for contract negotiation/product investment proposals

5.Ensure compliance with all regulatory/statutory financial requirements

6.Establish departmental goals, policies and operating procedures

7.Maintain & develop department structure and staffing level to effectively accomplish

8.departmental goals and objectives.

9.Identification and implementation of improvements in internal controls

10.Maintaining and developing the costing systems and all reporting

11.Manage and develop finance staff to effectively achieve company and personal objectives.

12.Assist with the financial planning and delivery of the growth targets of the business

13.Manage all internal and external audits

14.Manage cash flow in line with budget/forecast

15.Oversee daily operations of the finance department

16.Prepare general ad hoc analyses as requested by Directors

We are looking for an effective communicator who can ensure that non-finance managers understand the positions. You will also need to be a good all round IT person who can use Excel and learn other systems such as Javelin, maybe you will have used other ERP MRP type software already. You will need to be a driver to be considered for this role.
