Financial Controller

My client is a successful Group of software development companies with a broad and high-profile customer base. (Customers include FTSE 100 organisations) Located in Cardiff and delivering cutting edge technology solutions to a variety of sectors; they are currently looking to recruit a Financial Controller to help manage the day to day finances of the Group.

This important role will help to lead the day to day finance function, reporting to and working closely with the Head of Finance in areas including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking, treasury, management reports and importantly managing a small finance team.

Main duties:

Direct Line management of 2 staff members

Working closely with group sales and operations team, ensure accurate revenue recognition, including project profitability, and accrued and deferred income.

Cash-flow management, forecasting and reporting across the group

Management of monthly sales invoicing across a variety of contracts and supervision of credit control process for each group entity.

Management of purchase ledger, including purchase orders, purchase invoicing, expense claims, authorisation processes and supplier payment runs

Responsibility for timely month end results, including all journals, prepayments and accruals

Assistance with review of quarterly VAT returns

Supervision of daily bank reconciliation

Management of expense claims and credit card statements processing

Assistance with providing month end management reports for external clients as required.

Management of group audit and overseas entity (Canada) including liaison with local accountants.

Ad hoc projects as advised by the Head of Finance.

Skills & experience:

Finance Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is desirable

Good MS Office skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Experience of book-keeping and working in a finance environment.

Knowledge of Xero accounting system desirable

Experience of working in a fast growth and entrepreneurial environment desirable.

Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills

Ability to give great customer experience in all communication

Ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines

Ability to work well with others from across the organisation.
