Cooper Lomaz are working in partnership with a highly successful technology SME as they seek to recruit a Financial Controller to lead their Finance function. The organisation has grown organically since its inception and continues to specialise within niche areas of expanding markets, with a growing reputation in both UK and US markets. Given the size and expanding nature of the business, the successful candidate will work in a fast paced and dynamic office environment, managing a small accounts team.
This business critical role will work closely with the board of Directors to deliver the financial strategy whilst also remaining hands on in the preparation of the accounts. As Finance lead, you will also play a pivotal role in reviewing all business commercial contracts to maximise profitability and ROI, whilst also influencing the direction of the business through detailed financial analysis using complex Excel spreadsheets. You will also take responsibility for all the technical accounting elements which will include VAT submissions, R&D Tax credits and Consolidations.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Consolidating monthly account submissions for UK and US entities and lead on all year end accounts closes
- Manage all cashflow and treasury activities for the business
- Work closely with the COO and departmental heads on projects, tracking costs and expenditure
- Take ownership for all financial planning, budgets and forecasts for the business. Tracking actual performance vs budget
- Management of all financial reporting processes including both controls and financial systems
The successful candidate will ideally be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with a strong technical accounting background. Prior experience gained within an accountancy practice is highly desirable combined with the experience of working within a commercial environment. Candidates will ideally have experience of working with US subsidiaries and will have a working knowledge of both UK and US accounting policies. Excellent Excel skills and the ability to manage complex financial data and models is essential combined with the ability to communicate key financial information to Directors. Prior experience producing Tax submissions including R&D credits is also highly desirable.
