Financial Control Project Officer

An interesting new opening has arisen at a government department for an experienced accountant to join the finance department and help to implement audit recommendations.

Reporting to the financial controller, the roles will involve a detailed review of journals, transactions and balances in the core department to ensure that there is robust and auditable evidence available to support the 2017/18 accounts and to demonstrate proper financial control has been exercised throughout the year. There will also be an opportunity to help implement improvements to underlying controls.

The right candidate will be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, and have substantial exposure to financial control and book-keeping, gained within large and complex organisations - ideally government or the not for profit sector. In particular, you should be able to demonstrate experience in collating and evaluating robust audit evidence and liaising with external auditors. As you will be working with a range of people, strong communication skills will be very important.

This role is likely to be busy straight away but, as a result, should be very rewarding.
