The key responsibilities of the role include:
*Assisting in the sound preparation of all financial returns and annual statutory accounts.
*Ensuring all financial records are complete, accurate and up to date.
*Guaranteeing the integrity and accuracy of all aspects of the financial system.
*Taking responsibility for the bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
*Dealing with the replacement of assets on the fixed asset register and performing depreciation calculations.
*Verifying the accuracy of the monthly payroll before its submission.
*Line Manage a settled team of 4 purchase ledgers and rent officers.
*Taking ownership of the upgrade of the finance system to its latest version.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in a well-regulated sector such as Housing, Charity, Higher Education, NHS or Care & Support, although exceptional candidates from other sectors will also be considered. They will be either a newly qualified accountant, or a finalist who is active in their studies - Study support is available. They will have an interest in financial systems, and previous experience of managing or supervising staff will be a benefit.
