The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), working alongside, and leading, England’s 35 Maths Hubs, aims to ensure that all teachers of mathematics have access to high quality professional development opportunities. This is a fantastic time for a professional and confident finance officer to join us as we enter a period of substantial growth and expansion.
This exciting new role will form part of our Business Support function. Based in our Sheffield city centre office with some travel to our Bristol head office and occasionally to other locations, you will provide a professional and robust finance support service to colleagues in the NCETM.
This role is initially funded until July 2019 with the possibility of extension beyond that date.
Working closely with the Business Support Manager and Programme Manager, you will support the wider team in collecting financial plans and reports from the Maths Hubs, which you will collate and analyse so that you can produce accurate and meaningful management information.
You will work closely with colleagues to monitor financial plans and expenditure and will liaise with our central finance team in Bristol to ensure that NCETM and Maths Hubs expenditure and funding is appropriately managed and monitored.
A key part of the role will be to provide financial summaries and analysis to the management team and to provide reports to the Department for Education. You will bring your considerable finance expertise to the team and will take responsibility for operational finance administration such as raising purchase orders using the AX2012 finance system.
Along with experience in a similar role within a finance administration environment, you will have a good level of education and the ability to work in a fast-paced project support role.
You will have experience of budgetary planning and control, knowledge of project management principles and will be comfortable working independently and using initiative to overcome barriers and identify and implement solutions.
A pro-active approach is essential, as is the ability to work flexibly and responsively to changing business requirements.
It goes without saying that you will have strong organisational, numerical and analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be confident dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and handling data in a sensitive and confidential manner.
