My client is a leading national charity that provides a wide range of services to more than 100,000 people a year! This charity stands by greater political and public understanding within the Medical/ Healthcare industry. Due to continued growth and success within the charity, they are now seeking to recruit a Finance Officer to join them on a temp-to-perm basis.

Purpose of the role
As Finance Officer, your role will involve supporting the financial management of the organisation, ensuring the accurate processing and record keeping of income and expenditure.Finance Officer/ General Accounts Duties:

- Work through all the functionalities of the Finance Transaction Team. This includes the tasks within accounts receivable, accounts payable, direct income and expenditure, expenses, petty cash, bank accounts, payroll, daily post and daily banking,
- Analyse, document and post all direct income in line with internal deadlines.
- Complete reconciliation between Agresso and organisational income databases in line with internal deadlines.
- Allocate payments to invoices within debtors’ accounts on Agresso in line with internal deadlines.
- Complete all tasks related to Gift Aid. Liaising with internal departments and HMRC as appropriate.
- Complete all tasks related to third party fundraising sources. This will include liaison with external organisations and internal departments and uploading of income submissions.
- Processing and reconciling Charity Shop income.
- Complete all tasks associated with invoicing for statutory and non-statutory income, this includes the creation of invoice plans and liaising with management accountants to agree and resolve any statutory income queries and issues.
- Review overdue debtors and follow up with customers to resolve and obtain payment.
- Ensure the data integrity of all areas worked on within Agresso, this includes ensuring the reconciliation and accuracy of designated control accounts.
- Apply knowledge of current VAT legislation as applicable to charities, and to check all VAT charges are compliant
- Ensure all financial records are kept in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Proactively work both within Finance and across departments to engage with all stakeholders, to ensure an effective working relationship.
- Follow internal control procedures, and keep written procedures up to date for areas of responsibility.

Finance Officer/ General Accounts Experience, Knowledge and Skills required:

- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, both within and external to an organisation.
- Experience of working within more than one area of functionality within an income and expenditure processing finance function. For example, accounts receivable, accounts payable, direct expenditure and fixed assets.
- Experience of working with and applying VAT criteria in a charity context
- A commitment to the maintenance of accurate accounting records
- Experience of using Agresso or a similar finance system
- Ability to influence others, including those with very divergent views, in an understanding, diplomatic and tactful manner
- Ability to empower budget holders to use financial systems to ensure operational effectiveness
- Ability to manage and prioritise workloads in a pressured environment
- Ability to proactively resolve areas hindering the finance department being able to achieve the required outputs
- Experience of manipulating data in Excel
