I am currently partnering with a Birmingham based charity to recruit for their new Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for any candidate looking to step up into a management position, where you will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the finance team. The successful candidate will be pivotal within the senior management team, contributing to the strategic development and operational efficiency of the organisation.

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Birmingham

Working Hours: 9.00 am to 17.00 pm with flexible working and work from home opportunity

Essential Candidate Sector Background: Charity or Not-For-Profit

Essential Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Role Duties of the Finance Manager:

  • Coordinate the work and monitor workloads of the Finance Team, designing, maintaining and resourcing an adequate staff structure, undertaking performance and development monitoring and identifying appropriate training and development needs
  • Manage the services provided by the finance department with a high level of both customer focus and support to managers with service development
  • Be involved in budgeting strategy, forecasting and monitoring of performance targets, monitoring risk management and the production of the Business Plan
  • Provide reports and financial information/analysis for the COO, Senior Management Team and the Board of Trustees and for other planning processes as required
  • Lead on key organisational projects or events, as required, in collaboration with auditors and other external advisors, other service providers, senior management and board members
  • Attend Board meetings, Finance Committee meetings, and any other meetings as required and provide high quality financial information such as annual budgets, monthly management accounts, cash flow analysis and any other reports that may be required
  • Work with the COO in providing leadership and direction in the development of a broad range of activities in line with the Strategic Plan and the organisation's vision

Essential Skills of the Finance Manager:

  • Initiating, driving, developing and implementing strategies and plans relating to financial outcomes and impact
  • Working with or an understanding of Charities SORP
  • Setting up and working with accounting systems including Sage
  • Experience of pensions, automatic enrolment, VAT, and payroll systems
  • Designing and working with complex spreadsheets and report writing software
