The Opportunity
A real chance to make a difference. We are pleased to be working with a non profit group seeking a qualified finance professional to support them during the next 6 months (minimum term of contract - potential extension / permanent opportunity).
This is an autonomous subsidiary of a large property / construction group. They are effectively a charity focused on providing support services to those who find themselves homeless.
You will genuinely be making a difference to people's lives in the here and now.
You'll be the main point of contact for the SME (<£10m turnover) and support the MD locally whilst also providing a key bridge into group finance (based in another area of the UK)
Your financial management, guidance and reporting literally helps keeps a roof over folks heads and ensures the business can best use their income and grants to provide wrap-around packages including counselling and structured support.
Your remit
Your role will encompass all aspects of the day to day finance management and reporting for the business. You will manage a small teams of assistants / clerks but be an extremely hands on 'number 1 in finance’.
The remit will include: management accounting, budgeting, variance analysis, cash management and forecasting, all aspects of month end close, year end accounting (point of contact for auditors / group). You’ll be an absolutely vital finance business partner for all of the local leadership team. You’ll also provide reassuring insight and visibility to the group finance team / parent business.

You will need:
- Qualification - CIMA / ACCA or ACA
- A track record of success as Finance Manager / FC of a professional SME.
- Knowledge of funding streams would be beneficial and experience in a charity / non profit business would be an advantage.
- Professional, calm, objective and compassionate approach.
- A commercial awareness and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Confidence when presenting financial info to non finance audiences.
