This is a new role replacing the FC who is retiring in October and to a certain degree the role will be shaped around the right candidate, but in brief the duties will include:
Preparation of a robust set of management accounts with commentary
Preparation of the financial accounts
Trial balance preparation
Preparing several detailed P&Ls
Regular cash flow forecasting
Managing the Assistant Accountant
Overseeing Purchase Ledger
Overseeing AR & Credit Control
There is definite scope her to improve on the status-quo and to work on delivering more insightful reporting and to add value to the business by providing advice and commentary and developing relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
The perfect candidate for this might be a QBE or fully qualified. What is important is possessing a good grasp of what life in an SME is like. There is little hierarchy here and you could find yourself raising invoices or dealing with a credit issue on a daily basis.
