An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager based in Huntingdon for the Water Distribution Integrated Maintenance and Repair (IMR) alliance within Water Services.
Reporting to the Integrated Maintenance & Repair (IMR) Head of Commercial and Finance, you will be an active member of the Commercial and Performance and Finance leadership teams, as well as being accountable to the Head of Planning, Management Accounting and Analysis. In this varied and challenging role, you will be responsible for the effective control and management of the AWS aspects of IMR Water alliance financial performance, including the development and delivery of efficiency initiatives to enable the business to achieve its regulatory and business targets.
As a key member of the Finance Leadership team, you will develop the Finance function within the Water Services business unit for Water Distribution. This will include taking an active role in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ownership of health and safety by all.
As the Finance Manager, your duties will include:
o Monitoring, evaluating and reporting financial and non-financial performance to the IMR Head of Commercial & Finance, Director of the IMR Alliance, and the Business Unit Director
o Advising the Management Team of key risks and issues to the achievement of business unit targets
o Liaising with owners of non-financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure adequate reporting and visibility to the management team
o Developing performance reporting within the business unit
o Driving the Business agenda to one of the performance focuses (on a Totex basis for AMP7)
o Developing a culture of cost control within the regulated business
o Manage and administer opex and capex funding for the IMR through the appropriate governance including all necessary stakeholder management
o Manage the provision of timely and accurate AWS cost information for the IMR Water alliance
o Development of unit & comparative costing methodologies to assist benchmarking, budgeting and performance indicators
o Reviewing business unit plans with the Head of Business Performance, the Business Unit Director and the Director of the IMR Alliance
o Developing & driving strategic initiatives for the Finance function
o Ensuring accounting practices are consistent with regulatory reporting requirements
o Ensuring that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are adhered to when reporting and processing transactions
o Developing and agreeing Finance policies & procedure
o Being an active member of the Water Services Leadership team, determining direction & strategy for the finance function.
Ideally you will have strong leadership and stakeholder management skills as well as being able to think and operate strategically. You will be commercially minded, have excellent business acumen and be able to work collaboratively with the commercial teams and partners in the IMR alliance and Water Services business unit.
As a qualified accountant, you will have experience in a senior financial management role ideally in a Utilities environment, where you have gained experience managing and reporting non-financial KPIs. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders in a constructive manner.
