Finance Manager

Part time -24 hours per week (flexibility on the working hours - for example, 3 full days per week or 24 hours spit over 5 days)

We are looking for a Finance Manager to be based in our Colchester office. You will be responsible for all aspects of finance and budgeting. This includes day to day financial control, transaction processing, reporting & planning. In this role you will manage the Company's finance function, overseeing a Finance Assistant and ensuring full statutory and corporate compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity if you have demonstrable experience of working in a finance function within a Small or Medium Sized Enterprise (SME).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily running of the finance team
  • Line management of a Finance Assistant
  • Dealing with HMRC, creating and submitting both PAYE and VAT returns
  • Management of cash flow
  • Preparation of information required for statutory audits
  • Management of Company bank account
  • Company payroll and associated Inland Revenue compliance, working alongside our external payroll provider
  • Working closely with our partner Bibby Financials and managing relationships with banks
  • Production of monthly and annual management accounts
  • Creation of regular monthly management reports
  • Management of invoicing and accounts payable, including credit control
  • Managing, maintaining and updating Quickbooks finance system
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and other financial reports as requested
  • Ensuring full statutory and corporate compliance
  • Management of budgets in line with department leading in delivery and sales
  • Track the company's financial status to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company

Required/desirable experience and skills

  • Ideally, you will have experience of all finance functions within an SME
  • Experience/working knowledge of Quickbooks finance system
  • Practical experience of people management/development
  • Advanced Excel user
  • Part/Fully qualified Accountant
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information in a clear manner
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills
  • Attention to fine detail
