The Role

This appointment is confirmation of the growth and development of this large entrepreneurial wholesale, cash and carry Group. It has a broad and very interesting remit and it represents a real step up into working at the top level of a large organisation, for the right person. The jobholder will report to the Finance Director and will work closely with staff at all levels and in all functions across the business. The Finance Manager will primarily work in the Group, however you will also have involvement with and input into the financial management of the private office.

You will interact with a wide variety of internal stakeholders to quickly establish yourself as a person that makes the numbers make sense in a commercial environment. Linking into operations is critical as is your ability to get to grips with all aspects of financial planning and analysis in the business. You will be a key member of the team assisting the Finance Director with management accounts, financial modelling, cost saving initiatives and streaming the reporting to Directors of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Finance Manager will work closely with the finance and operational teams and will have significant involvement in:-

Month end reports including production of full P&Ls and Balance Sheet reconciliation.

Cash flow modelling.

Producing monthly and quarterly board packs for all group companies.

Posting month end journals and preparing B/S and P/L reports with supporting schedules.

Approving supplier payments and assisting the Finance Director as necessary.

Working closely with Private Office Director for investment reporting.

Assisting the Finance Director and being his "right hand person."

Developing, monitoring and reporting on KPIs.

Provision of input into the financial planning and budgeting process.

Production of monthly forecast cycles, investigating variances between forecast to actual results. Completing a full range of accounting processes.

Business partnering with the Operations team and having a presence and accountability within the finance team.

Drive financial improvements across the company reporting systems and support on financial analysis projects.

Production and development of relevant business reporting suites.

Support colleagues across the business in developing financial awareness.

Benchmarking of performance both internally and externally.

Ad-hoc project work that requires high analysis and number crunching skills.

The Person

CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified

Retail/ Wholesale/ FMCG or related industry experience

High attention to detail

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulae, lookup tables, 'what if' statements, macros generation, SQL reporting and data cubes

Strong on IT systems

Highly numerate and articulate

Excellent communication skills with good problem solving skills.

Excellent understanding of business processes

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to deal with people at all levels in the organisation
