The UK and Ireland business has almost £5bn of revenue from 6m passengers delivered from various channels and sources. The Revenue Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the correct and timely posting of this revenue to the P&L as well as operating key controls around these processes. In addition to core revenue from holidays the team manages revenue from other products such as Insurance, ancillaries, foreign exchange sales and third party products and packages. The team also manages vouchers and gift cards and provides support to our retail estate for areas such as payments and refunds.
The Finance Manager for Tour Operator Revenue role focuses particularly on package sales via our web channel and third party agents as well as reconciling balances with our retail entity.
What you will be doing
As the Finance Manager – Tour Operator Revenue you will be responsible for maintaining the financial ledgers which support the Revenue area, overseeing the work of two Tour Operator Revenue accountants, ensuring the integrity and appropriate accounting treatment of sales data interfaced from TUI’s reservation system and identifying, operating and monitoring the effectiveness of key controls.
You will provide key support to the Financial Controller, Revenue, interfacing between the Revenue Accounting team and its internal and external customers.
The role involves being the Finance lead and point of contact for reservation system revenue across the business, working with support functions to resolve any system defects, identifying and addressing root causes for any discrepancies, attending workshops, designing processes producing RCM etc.
Specific activities include
•Reviewing and approving monthly Tour Operator Revenue balance sheet reconciliations, in particular the liability reconciliation between the Tour Operator and Retail companies in liaison with the Finance Manager – Retail Revenue,
•Tracking and reporting of balance sheet risks and opportunities
•Preparation of monthly cash and working capital forecasts for revenue in advance, agent receivables and customer under and overpayments used for cash management and hedging purposes;
You will support the Revenue Accounting team in driving process improvement to increase the accuracy of data processed by the reservation system interfaces, including active participation in the Groupwide IFRS 15 project as it relates to Tour Operator Revenue.
You will act as the point of contact for internal and external audit as relates to Tour Operator Revenue
You will set and monitor challenging objectives and provide effective support to facilitate delivery and proactively develop team members to fulfil their potential.
What we are looking for
Qualified accountant (or equivalent experience) with minimum 3 years PQE and a track record of working effectively with large volumes of data
Strong analytical skills and experience of complex spreadsheet modelling
Strong communication skills both written and oral
Strong systems & process skills
Strong problem solving skills
Either strong credibility already within the organisation (experience of Tour Operator accounting an advantage), or quickly able to develop such credibility
