Finance Manager - Operations

As Finance Manager, you’ll be expected to play a key role in driving the business forward, by providing the financial support needed to various commercial decision-makers.

This role is pivotal in providing business partnering to the operations community.

  • Provide monthly reporting on cost base
  • Identify and assist business in driving down costs
  • Liaising with suppliers
  • Assisting with the production of business cases
  • Ensuring cost base is appropriately allocated to client accounts via activity based costing
  • Leadership of the Finance Function through example

Key Responsibilities:

Cost control and allocation

  • Working with the business to drive the cost base down and achieve lower unit cost of operation
  • Compliance with IFRS with particular attention to accruals and prepayments
  • Create activity cost based recharge mechanism to allocate costs to client accounts
  • Monitor under / over recovery


  • Production of Monthly Management Accounts using SAP
  • Providing appropriate commentary and analysis to the management accounts in order explain variances to forecast and budget, and significant movements in month
  • Forecasting on a rolling monthly basis
  • Support the Management Team in the budgeting process
  • Promote strong financial control and cost control within the business
  • Ensuring Group policies and procedures are followed

Business Partnering

  • Financial and Commercial support to Operations
  • Challenging the Operational Team from a financial aspect
  • Working with the business to drive the cost base down and achieve lower unit cost of operation
  • Liaise with suppliers to optimise the cost of supply and terms of business
  • Provide support to business cases for investment

Experience required / Behavioural Competencies:

  • A good knowledge of SAP
  • Financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Project-based accounting
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Proactive in seeking out and achieving financial performance
  • Qualified / Part Qualified Accountant with 5 years+ experience in Industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact internally across a variety of functions, commercial, resourcing, HR, business development, etc
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to liaise with non-finance staff.
  • Excellent time management to deliver to tight deadlines
