Finance Manager - Logistics

Full time, permanent

Based in Lutterworth

ROLE PURPOSE

To directly support and business partner the Logistics function. Support required around financial control, tracking of costs internally and working with external third parties whilst also working closely with Operations, Procurement and Finance, ensuring finance support for all major business decisions relating to their sphere of influence, delivering robust forecasting and reporting with consistent financial control. Development and management of two direct reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Weekly / Period End

  • Keeping vigilant control of costs and performance via weekly cost reviews internally and with third parties
  • Regular focused reporting of key financial and key performance information
  • Provide insight into period end performance vs. contractual agreements, latest forecasts and year on year
  • Communication of key drivers of performance to the wider business
  • Financial analysis charts completed with insightful analysis
  • Monitor stock loss, actively working with the business to minimise

Forecasts

  • Make sure that the business always gets a joined up view of financials, and that this view is also joined up with the relevant commercial financials, Procurement and Project teams
  • Analysis of forecast performance to ensure volume, mix and other factors are clearly identified
  • Forecast accuracy to be measured and shared

Other

  • Working with the Supply Chain Finance team to ensure consistency, best practice and improvement are driven in the department
  • Adhoc support to commercial teams to ensure incremental nature of costs is understood when taking decisions
  • Take ownership of special projects that span Logistics
  • Development and management of two direct reports

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Substantial finance experience
  • Demonstrable people management experience
  • Team Player, yet retaining ability to challenge constructively
  • Good analytical and organisational skills
  • Advanced Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • Ability to work alone, calmly under pressure and be able to achieve deadlines
  • Background in Logistics

Desirable

  • Practical experience of Standard Costing
  • Experience of SAP
