Our client is a leading charitable organisation established in the 90’s based in Derry renowned for their work across the North-West.
The Finance Manager will have the responsibility to ensure that financial information is at all times accurate and up to date in order that effective decisions can be about the activity of the organisation. The post holder will also ensure that all actions are taken to facilitate the Organisation meeting its legal obligations in relation to all finance and accounting activities and will proactively provide meaningful financial information to the rest of the management and team and Board of the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Co-ordinate, control and monitor overall financial affairs of the organisation.
Prepare monthly management accounts for the Group. These should include variances with the prior year and budget. Report these to the Executive Director.
Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators for the financial management of the organisation.
Prepare annual budget in conjunction with the Executive Director.
Monitor and control expenditure within the overall budget headings and liaise with the Executive. Director and staff regarding over and under spends.
Prepare Monthly Cash Flow Reports.
Preparation of year end accounts up to Audit Stage.
Prepare audit file and liaise with auditors.
Liaise with Vat, HMRC and legal advisors where required.
Maintain Centres bank accounts.
Review bank reconciliations prepared by Administrative Officer.
Review Aged Debtors and Creditors reports/reconciliations prepared by Administration Officer.
In conjunction with Executive Director authorise payments.
Operate Credit Control.
Prepare and submit Vat Returns.
Process monthly payroll across the Group.
Complete statutory submissions when required e.g. Payroll, Annual Returns etc.
In conjunction with Project Staff prepare and monitor budgets for their projects.
Adhere to relevant action plans and policies, such as Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and the Child Protection.
Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.
Essential Knowledge & Experience Criteria:
Third Level Education.
Professional Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Experience of working with SAGE Accounting packages.
Experience in preparing and analysing monthly and year end accounts.
Experience preparing and managing budgets for multiple projects including the submission of claims and funding drawdown.
Experience preparing and monitoring cashflow/forecasts.
Experience working with statutory requirements including VAT, Payroll, Pension, Departmental Returns and Year End audit.
Essential Attributes/Personal Characteristics:
Experience working with other nonfinance personnel & budget holders to agree, monitor and control capital and revenue expenditure.
Excellent IT skills, especially in Excel.
Attention to detail with excellent communication and reporting skills.
Experience of reporting to Board of Directors.
Desirable Education/Professional Qualification:
Experience In preparation of Charity Accounts under SORP.
Experience of managing a team and providing support to them in their development.
Desirable Attributes/Personal Characteristics:
Flexible in attitude and action to ensure the objectives of the Organisation are achieved.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to coordinate activities.
Other Desirable Criteria:
Access to transport.
