The RAF Benevolent Fund was established in 1919, and since then they have supporting the RAF family through challenging times. Based near Regents Park in the West end of London, this prestigious charity provide support and morale through well-being programmes, support for families, welfare breaks, financial assistance and advice and advocacy.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation. The finance department are undergoing a change which will ensure they are best placed to support the charity for years to come. The team are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to join as a Finance Business Partner for Welfare and Fund reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with a real strategic mindset and strong interpersonal skills to join the Fund at an important time in their history and add real value to the Welfare team.
*Produce, within agreed timescales, high quality management accounts and analysis for the Welfare directorate, to inform budget holders, SMT and Trustees.
*Highlight significant budget variances and potential business risks as well as recommend action to be taken.
*Understand cost drivers and identify issues that need to be raised with budget holders or SMT.
*Lead the annual planning and budgeting cycle for Welfare teams and PMH, assisting budget holders with developing and evaluating operational and business plans in line with strategic priorities and fostering collaboration across the Fund.
*Support the production of the annual budget and longer term plans for the Welfare and PMH, making sure that numbers align with business plans and agreed strategy and that underlying assumptions are tested and evaluated properly.
*Challenge planning and budget assumptions to ensure that numbers generated are robust.
*Oversee the Management Accountant for Welfare & Fund Reporting including mentoring, supervision, appraisals and development
* CCAB Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent. Passed Finalists will be considered)
* Strong experience of working in an accountancy environment. Charity sector experience would be beneficial
* Experience of leading a budgeting process for a designated area of a business
* Experience in mentoring less experience finance staff
* Team player
