About the role
As the Business Partner within Central Functions, you will lead responsibility for all financial aspects of the HR, Multichannel Experience (MCE), Marketing and Digital business areas, engaging with and holding to account business unit teams. You will partner with business leadership to drive the performance agenda; providing insight, interpretation and intervention to drive business decisions that create sustainable growth.
Implementing planning and budgeting processes, you will engage with these business units teams to build financial plans, providing analysis and challenging assumptions. You will deploy the performance management process; ensuring performance is understood and holding to account for delivery of targets and value drivers. You will also ensure financial and business controls remain relevant by working with accountable owners in Group or central functions, and ensure that costs are tightly controlled across all units, with emphasis on process reviews, implementing efficiency measures for operational activities.
You will also engage with other commercial teams to understand the wider impact of initiatives. Working collaboratively with shared service teams, you will provide and receive feedback to help improve the overall effectiveness of the Finance function.
Reporting into the Finance Director for Technology and Central Functions, you will also deputise as when necessary.
Please note that this is maternity leave cover on fixed term contract basis, for an expected period of 12 months.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate via their application (CV) and at assessment the following key skills and experience:
• Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA preferred)
• Ability to partner with, constructively challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• Excellent analytical skills
• Personable and proactive in approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude
• Solution focused
• Strong understanding of performance management and financial control processes
• Strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills, essential for managing performance and driving change
• Ability to explain complex financial issues clearly & concisely and make recommendations for improvement
• Understanding of business objectives and performance drivers
