Job Profile: Finance Assistant

Job Purpose: A finance assistant is required to support our day-to-day transactions and support the finance manager in preparation of the monthly management accounts. This includes maintaining purchase/sales ledgers, bank & income reconciliations and maintaining financial spreadsheets. We are looking for someone who is an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual which may suit somebody who is newly qualified and looking to take the next step in their career or returning to the workplace after a break in their career. We can accommodate flexible working hours for this role if required.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities

To include:

  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters
  • Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
  • Raising purchase orders
  • Reconciliation of invoices to purchase orders and supplier statements
  • Input financial data into Sage Line 50 with accuracy
  • Paying suppliers via our on-line banking system
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Weekly Bank reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management Accounts
  • Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure monthly deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner
  • Processing & reconciliation of Income from online sales system and input to Sage Line 50
  • Resolution of finance related queries
  • Assist with year-end preparation, procedures and audit
  • A certain level of flexibility is required outside normal working hours around show times and rehearsals - all members of the Eleven Arches Team are committed to supporting our volunteers to a maximum of 75% in show season
  • Any other duties deemed to be within the spirit of the post

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of working within a finance department in a similar role
  • Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Proficient in Sage Line 50
  • Good level of competence in MS Excel & other MS software
  • Good communication & listening skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and achieve targets and deadlines in a timely and accurate manor
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Good analytical ability and ability to spot numerical errors
  • Good problem solver
  • Have own transport and driving licence

Desirable

  • Be AAT qualified or in final stages, although candidates who are QBE will be considered
  • Have an understanding of Charity/Not for Profit accounts
  • Have had exposure to management accounts
  • Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act and be able to apply these within the organisation
  • Exposure to inter company transactions
