Finance Assistant

The key focus of the role is to support the group finance team in the processing, accounting, control and reporting activities.

Main Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Process supplier/raise customer invoices on the accounting package
  • Process/raise credit notes
  • Process bank account entries on the accounting package
  • Process credit card and expense claims on the accounting package
  • Reconcile supplier and bank statements
  • Produce and review customer/supplier ageing with commentary
  • Responsible for the Accounts payable/receivable
  • Manage customer/supplier queries
  • Distribute and reconcile Petty cash
  • Assist in the design and implementation of efficient process workflows
  • Assist in the procurement of systems to automate processes, reduce manual intervention and stimulate efficiency
  • Manage and maintain positive 3rd party supplier relationships
  • Assist with month-ends and audits
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with preparing accruals and prepayment
  • Assist with VAT reconciliations
  • Prepare journals entries for relevant accounts
  • Maintain fixed assets register with additions, disposals and depreciation
  • Perform analytical reviews of accounts when required
  • Ad hoc duties as requested by line manager and support the wider GPS team as required

Required skills, experience & knowledge

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a transactional finance environment
  • Proficient in all MS Office packages, specifically Excel
  • Basic accounting knowledge, including journal entries and accrual accounting
  • Experience with accounting and expense systems
  • Experience in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including spoken and written English, able to explain issues clearly and in detail
  • Excellent customer and supplier service skills and telephone manner
  • Can demonstrate robustness when being pressured to not follow company procedure
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with problem solvingskills
  • Can demonstrate excellent time management skills incl. prioritisation, multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines
  • Good organisational ability
  • Flexible, friendly, and a team player - willing to assist, nothing is a problem
