Finance Assistant - PART TIME - Chelmsford (Temorary to Permanent) Immediate Start

Job Title/Role: Finance Assistant
Responsible to: Bursar
Hours: A minimum of 15 hrs per week for 52 weeks p.a. Exact daily working hours to be agreed.
Salary/Benefits: £11,500 p.a.
Pension: The client operates a pension scheme which all staff are eligible to join.
Holiday entitlement: 25 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays. (pro rata)
Term: 12 month contract.
Start Date: ASAP

Finance and Accountancy - administration using PASS Finance software package
- Nominal Ledger – monitor and process income and payments made directly to bank, process all non-purchase ledger items, post petty cash etc.
- Prepare, produce and agree monthly bank reconciliation and petty cash reconciliation.
- Assist the Bursar with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist the Bursar with credit control and termly billing.
- Monitor utilities expenditure.
- Manage all routine and regular service contracts.
- Prepare Budget reports for Budget holders twice a term.
- Bank all cheques/cash received on a daily/weekly basis.

- Administer the monthly payroll for all staff.
- Calculate and apply overtime for catering, cleaning and part-time staff (where applicable) as per time sheets.
- Apply PAYE, pensions and NI contributions.
- Prepare and submit Inland Revenue monthly RTI returns.
- Prepare monthly accounts and maintain monthly records of salaries.

- Administer all pension schemes for all staff – auto enrolment pension scheme and individual private pensions.
- Process and submit monthly Pension contributions for staff and maintain records.
- Process and submit monthly Auto Enrolment Pensions Scheme contributions for staff and maintain records regarding eligible/entitled staff including renewal dates
- Prepare and submit annual Pensions return.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified AAT professional with strong technical and commercial capabilities and also excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and the flexibility to engage across a broad variety of activities.

- Proven and successful background in all aspects of financial and management accounting
- Excellent knowledge of financial and payroll systems
- Excellent IT literacy including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Pride in paying attention to detail
- Honest, trustworthy and reliable
- Self-starter with a high level of time management and planning skills
- AAT or equivalent qualification
- Experience of using WCBS PASS
- Experience of preparing monthly payroll
