To assist with daily Cashroom activities as and when necessary, including attendance at meetings, contributing to group discussions on Cashroom procedures and ensuring Cashroom documentation is kept up-to-date.

Our client is a well established national legal practice with an opportunity in their Edinburgh based office.

Description

To post aCashroom daily requests, a mixture of online and paper entries;

  • Client and office receipts and payments.
  • Client to client transfers.
  • Client to office transfers (Fees).
  • Office to client transfers (where client funds are uncleared and fees are settled by Cheque or BACS method).
  • Client to office transfers (where client funds are cleared and supplier invoice can be paid).
  • Office to office transfers (inter-company transfers).
  • SSD "other" POA client statements - updating the client designated ledgers.
  • Third party cheques.
  • Bill reversals.
  • Posting forward posting report - client direct debits and standing orders.
  • Client disbursement transfers.
  • Managing petty cash and travel vouchers for Edinburgh office.
  • Posting cancelled cheques, cheque requests and daily reports.
  • Posting upliftments, lodgements and correct entries.

To run various reports and take appropriate action as required in order to comply with both Scottish and English Law Society Accounts Rules.

To accurately file documentation stored within the Cashroom as requested.

To assist with daily Cashroom activities as and when necessary, including attendance at meetings, contributing to group discussions on Cashroom procedures and ensuring Cashroom documentation is kept up-to-date.

Profile

The successful candidate will have;

  • Previous experience working in finance, preferably in a law firm, would be an advantage.

  • Enthusiasm, accuracy and strong attention to detail is essential. Full training will be given on the Law Society of Scotland/SRA Accounts Rules and the successful candidate must have a commitment and willingness to learn and devote time to attaining this knowledge.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with the Cashroom team and fee earners, and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. You'll be confident in your own judgement and skills, but know when it's necessary to call upon the help and expertise of others.

  • Will be flexible and reliable: a self-starter, enthusiastic, accurate, with excellent attention to detail. Will demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload to strict timescales.

  • Proficient with Word and Excel.
