Business Improvement Manager

Overall Function

Data Analyst required to join a busy team in Manchester.

Within the Business Improvement and Change team, the role is cross-functional but with a strong emphasis on operational and client data needs. Work will often be aligned to change and process improvement projects, which will require a keen interest in project structures and change and improvement methodology.

Working closely with all departments, this role is key in the timely production and analysis of data for client MI, business KPIs, commercial analysis and trending, to provide support for the production and development of critical business reports, and to aid strategic business decision-making.


  • Periodical conversion and analysis of data to support ongoing projects and change and improvement proposals

  • Ad hoc, weekly and monthly reporting across the Business

  • Ongoing development of data definitions, tools and reporting suites

  • Engagement in the creation and development of data management and reporting strategy with other data users and owners around the business

  • Presentation of information in graphical formats and explanation of analysis

  • Assisting in the identification of areas for process improvement and suggest and help implement change via systems and processes

  • Ongoing data cleansing

Personal qualities

Technical Skills

  • Essential skills:
    • Database experience
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (formulae, charts, macros)
    • SQL SSMS knowledge (query writing and data upload)
    • SSRS knowledge
    • Good knowledge of the Microsoft suite, including Project, Visio, Powerpoint
  • The following are an advantage:
    • Experience with Visual Studio
    • Experience in database languages such as HTML and Java
    • Experience with data warehousing and cubes
    • Experience with Sharepoint reports, including PerformancePoint


  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge of project lifecycle and standard toolkit
    • Understanding of lean and process improvement techniques
    • Business process design
