Purpose of Position

  • To supervise and support staff and service users

  • To ensure effective service delivery on a day-to-day basis

  • To contribute to the implementation of service developments and operational functions within the Domiciliary Care Service to meet Directorate and corporate policies and objectives

Principal Responsibilities

Co-ordinate and supervise a group of staff and resources, in order to provide a range of Domiciliary Care Services within a designated area

Ensure promotion of independence and individual rights are observed at all times with regards to choice, equality, diversity and culture

Assist with all aspects of individual personal care needs, including assistance with dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and continence including the administration of medication

Ensure the service delivery meets the focussed care plan, contribute to the review process

Supervise and support front line staff

Contribute to staff development and appraisal process, identify individual training needs

Responsible for monitoring and audit of information regarding staff and service users which is relevant and appropriate to the role and compliant with GDPR

Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with colleagues and staff members

Assess Domiciliary Care staff to ensure competent in accordance with nationally agreed standards

Undertake complex environmental Risk Assessments; and contribute to the Moving and Handling assessments process

Participate in the induction of staff

Assist with the performance management of staff in compliance with corporate policy

Ensure compliance with Alina Homecare policies and procedures

Contribute to the co-ordination and development and planning and implementation of specialist homecare projects where required

Ensure that administration and monitoring systems are maintained in compliance with all legislation and the maintenance of quality management systems

Ensure the effective service delivery is maintained

Organise team meetings for staff

Undertake any other duties, appropriate to the post, which may from time to time be required, by the director of adult, community & housing services

Person Specification

Experience of working with adults with a Learning disability in a Domiciliary Care setting

Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory requirements for the delivery of Social Care

Driver with own car and business insurance

Self-Motivated

Committed to quality care and services provision

Qualifications

NVQ 3 in health and Social Care or equivalent

Practical Skills

Ability to plan, develop, monitor and effectively evaluate service delivery and care packages

Develop effective working relationships in a multi-functional team

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Time management

Ability to respond to Service Users and organise out of hours rota system

Ability to utilise IT and Microsoft packages
