Experienced Impact & Performance Managers required to join UKRI working on the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. (Field-based)

Your new company

UK Research & Innovation is a new organisation which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government departments to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. UKRI aims to maximise the contribution of each of our component parts, working individually and collectively.  Operating across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £7 billion, UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England.

Your new role

The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) aims to bring together the UK’s world-leading research with business to meet the major industrial and societal challenges of our time and is being delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Challenge programmes delivered by the fund will be industry-led and powered by multi-disciplinary research and business-academic collaboration. The ISCF provides funding and support to UK businesses and researchers. The fund is part of the government’s £4.7 billion increase in research and development over 5 years.

We are currently building a delivery team to deliver the Healthy Ageing Challenge. This is a £98M investment to enable businesses, including social enterprises, to develop and deliver products, services and business models that will be adopted at scale which support people as they age.  This will allow people to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected across generations for as long as possible.

You will enjoy a varied and challenging role within the Healthy Ageing Challenge where you’ll be responsible for reporting on key metrics for both internal and external stakeholders whilst identifying trends and offering analysis across a portfolio of projects. You’ll need to develop the current reporting processes and coordinate with monitoring teams to ensure reporting is completed both accurately and on time whilst reviewing the status of projects against their key objectives and escalating any relevant concerns to stakeholders. You will review projects to identify successes and work with colleagues to develop relevant communications to ensure stakeholders are aware of positive progress. You’ll work closely with Innovation Leads to ensure any high budget change requests to ongoing projects are reviewed in a timely manner to ensure fast and accurate sign off.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll have demonstrable experience of working in a similar role where you’ve successfully worked with a range of stakeholders with varying priorities. You will be able to effectively gather and analyse data from a range of sources, regularly review end-to-end processes to ensure continuous improvements are made and be able to think strategically whilst delivering at an operational level. You’ll need exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the gravitas to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and gain their buy in. In addition, you will need to have a comprehensive understanding of our ageing society and ideally have some relevant experience within the health industry.

What you'll get in return

With a highly flexible working environment at your disposal and a wide range of training and mentoring opportunities available, UKRI is an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their skills and experience. In addition to this you’ll earn between £38,318 - £42,576 per annum with 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays plus privilege days. This role is being offered on a two-year fixed term contract basis and due to the nature of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund it will be field based with frequent travel to the Swindon office.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis.
