Female Support Worker - Camborne. Full & Part time positions ava

Posted 6 days ago by Mencap Ending soon

Would you like to finish work each day knowing you have made a difference?

We are looking for a positive, compassionate and caring female Support Worker to join our Camborne service where you will primarily be supporting two individuals.

You will be responsible and involved in the everyday life of the people that we support, making sure that they are fully involved when it comes to receiving the support that they all need and want.

One of the people that you will be supporting has a sensory impairment and is nonverbal. This individual loves nothing more than sitting on the sand and feeling it between their fingers, long walks in all weathers - or music and dancing!! So you will definitely be expected to join in with a jig from time to time.

Supporting with daily living tasks, finances, administering medication and managing their tenancy will be a large part of your role, but that's not all. Being a Support Worker means that you also get to create some fantastic memories and take part in the fun! We have a lot of different interests, hobbies and passions within our services.

The role isn't without it's challenges -you will need to be positive, caring, enthusiastic and patient. Providing personal care is something that you will need to be comfortable with.

Have a look at the additional information attached created by one of the people that we support in Camborne This will give you an idea of what the people we support want from you.

You do not need to have experience but it is essential that you share our values. As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!), evenings and weekends. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you'll have your own requirements - have you got commitments on a Thursday? Not to worry, we can factor this in, as well as other requests (provided you give us enough notice) into our rotas.

This position is based in Camborne. Due to the requirements of the role it is essential that you are a driver.

An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)

This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
