We support 1 lady, soon to be 2 who have a learning disability and live in our supported living service in Chapel-En-Le-Frith. We are looking to grow our team of enthusiastic, fun and well experienced support workers.
The people we support are both in their 30’s and are just about to start their journey of living together and becoming friends. They require support around personal care and taking medication but more than anything they want to live an amazing life full of fun laughter and friendship. They both have active social lives and want support to be able to access the community, getting their hair done and going to educational classes. Due to the travelling required to provide these ladies with the support they want we do require a driver for this role.
Have a look at the additional information attached created by the people we support, this will give you an idea of what the people we support want from you.
Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.
One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
Due to the nature of this service we are looking for female only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
