The claims handling and fee earning division is at the heart of their success and this exciting opportunity can see you develop your existing Disease experience to include HAVS. The focus of the role is to handle your own caseload of predominately litigated NIHL and HAVS claims. The supported environment is there to be called upon as you manage and progress claims in accordance with appropriate strategies to secure desired outcomes for clients at appropriate levels of profitability. The Fee Earner is required to have experience of NIHL claims and to demonstrate an ability to deal with a caseload of litigated claims. As each case commences you will review documents and preparing reports, dealing with disclosure and reviewing evidence which will include medical / personnel records. Through the course of the case, you will conduct investigations with Insured / obtaining witness statements and instruct Counsel / Experts. Day to day you will undertake research, draft generally, attending conferences and Trials with Counsel and dealing with routine correspondence. As cases progress you will attend court appointments, liaise with and take instructions from Insurers and Insureds and adhere to Court timetables.
To secure this Disease role, that will provide you with a slightly more mixed bag than usual you will need to be technically proficient in dealing with disease cases. If you are then you will be an effective negotiator, be able to use own initiative, have good listening and verbal communication skills, be able to maintain concentration and pay attention to detail and have the ability to self-organise and self-prioritise. Having an employment record as a fee earner will mean you can work under pressure and to target. Of course, it's not just about being technically capable, you will need to be enthusiastic and a hardworking individual.
