Family Court Adviser Social Worker
In every case we deal with, there’s a child who deserves to be heard. As a Family Court Adviser,
you’ll be their voice, standing up for their rights, wishes and needs and ensuring their welfare comes
first. In short, you’ll be responsible for securing every child’s future happiness and wellbeing. It’s an
immense responsibility, which is why we offer great support.
We are recruiting for our Birmingham-based teams. However, it’s important for you to know that
even before the current situation, your physical presence in the office would have been extremely
limited. So how close you are to our office is not as important as your proximity to the children and
young people you will be responsible for.
Instead, we trust you to work wherever it is right for you to be productive while getting the support
that you need. And of course, we ensure you have the tools to work efficiently and proportionately
so that you can have a healthy work/life balance.
Current opportunities are covering Birmingham, The Black Country and Shropshire. They are either
within our teams undertaking a mix of Private and Public Law work or within Private Law only,
specifically within our Early Intervention Team.
We would love to tell you more about these opportunities and some of the benefits of joining the
largest employer of Social Workers in England (incidentally, we were also rated ‘outstanding’ by
Ofsted at our last inspection).
But before you click through and find out more, let us briefly outline some essential requirements
At least three years’ post-qualifying experience working with vulnerable children and
Registered with Social Work England
Demonstrable court experience including familiarity of being cross examined
Resilience to thrive working independently
Life at Cafcass isn’t quite like anywhere else. Welcoming, warm and supportive, we help every
Family Court Adviser to thrive and give their best. A centre of excellence for social work, we offer 1-
2-1 coaching, clear policies and procedures, and the chance to build a career. Our team also has
