Factory Administrator

This is a well established engineering company in Ware that trades across the UK and nationally. The staff turnover is low and people like working here. There is free parking on site and you are close to the town centre, the train station and bus routes. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 09:30 to 14.30 with 30 minutes unpaid break for lunch; Friday 09:30 to 12:30 - Total 21 Hours/week.

We are looking for the role to be temp to perm ideally as this gives you a chance to make sure you are happy there. The likely scenario would be 4 - 8 weeks temp then taken on permanently. A summary of the role is below:

Working across all departments within the business interfacing daily with both company personnel, customers and suppliers.

Co-coordinating and handling all routine production administration tasks including, purchase orders, shop floor employee time sheets and production planning.

Supporting Factory Manager in administration of Health and Safety and Personnel matters.

Any tasks reasonably requested which is within the employee’s capability and competency.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  • Ensuring all hourly paid employee wages time cards are collected and submitted for wage and job costing on time each week.
  • Purchases - Raising purchase orders for plant items, materials and subcontracted work.
  • H and S - Maintaining all forms and records associated with the company Health and Safety practices.
  • Maintaining the weekly work to schedule

The successful applicant will have probably already have some administration experience and it would be ideal if they had some passing knowledge of Health and Safety (especially in engineering or factory environment) but not at all essential. You must be a good communicator though as you will need to speak with many people and build good relationships.

With no specific supervision you must be able to be a self motivator to get the tasks done. There are a variety of tasks, which is good, and you need to be able to manage tight schedules. You will be using Microsoft Office so would expect a good level of Excel and Word along with general IT skills.

The role is part time but if you are looking for full time we could look at extending some duties and so it might be possible to do this. Ideally, at this stage we are looking at part time on the hours shown at the top.
