The Role:

To oversee all aspects of building maintenance and operation, provision of workshop services, project management of laboratory refurbishment and similar capital projects, management of departmental cleaning, canteen facilities and building security. Working with the Departmental Secretary for Academic Services to formulate and implement plans pertaining to the above.

To act as the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) and to manage the day-to-day operations of departmental safety including line manager of the Safety Co-ordinator post in overseeing and co-ordinating all health and safety work in the department, and advising senior management of the department on health and safety matters.
The Head of Department may also from time to time require the role-holder to perform other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
