Export Business Development Manager - Spirits

An independent alcohol trading business, is now seeking now seeking an Export Business Development Manager to join their small team in NW London.

LOCATION: North-West London

SALARY: £32-45K, depending on experience

START: ASAP (during April 2018)

TYPE: Permanent, full time

Working with a wide range of customers in the Middle East, Africa, Asia & the Far East, you will assist the business in its commercial activities; 70% of time business development, 30% dealing with existing clients.

The role will require extensive travel in these regions, approximately 2 weeks per month.


  • Build relationships with new customers to generate new sales
  • Develop and promote new product with existing and new customers
  • Visit customers regularly and spend time with customers
  • Research new markets (products, origins and destinations)
  • Prepare commercial presentations for field trips as needed
  • Explain & present new opportunities or products to the CEO
  • Identify material risk that company could be exposed to
  • Prepare and submit yearly sales budget
  • Maintain communications with logistics department at all times
  • Resolve any delivery concerns on own sales with logistics department
  • Support to the CEO on specific sales when needed
  • Keep track of all sales commitments to ensure that own sales are executed on a timely basis
  • Prepare and submit trip reports from all overseas trips
  • Maintaining up-to-date files for all markets
  • Keeping track of all current sales, potential sales over course of budget
  • Keep own territories brochure, product sheets, sales support material up to date


  • 5+ years working in export sales / business development role for an international trading business
  • Worked with FMCG, human consumption goods (food/beverage), speciality chemicals, or similar
  • Flexible to travel internationally, often at very short notice, and for extended periods
  • Experience or a strong understanding of international trade - specifically import / export processes and incoterms
  • Speak at least 1 other key European language, in addition to fluent business level English (strong preference, not necessarily essential)
