Experienced Draughtsperson
Good basic salary based on experience + overtime & excellent benefits

As one of the East Midlands’ more established engineering companies, with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the power generation, cement, steel, aggregates and petrochemical industries, my client has a fantastic pedigree.

Due to a period of significant and sustainable growth they are now looking to build their team and take the company into the next phase in their development, to ensure that they are able to continue to service their customers’ engineering needs and develop products for new industries.

As an experienced Draughtsperson you will:

• Prepare and issue 2D & 3D detail and GA drawings, utilising AutoCAD
• Produce AutoCAD drawings for pre-tender enquiries
• Be capable of creating a 3D model from an isometric, hand-drawn sketch, and then turn this into a 2D layout drawing
• Design any special components necessary to complete the installation phase of projects
• Work closely with the manufacturing area of the business to ensure components are as per specification and the drawings
• Provide design calculations for designs (beam loading for example)
• Ensure that drawings, notes and records are stored so that they are readily available
• Assist the project teams with site surveys and measuring customer plant and equipment to ensure that anticipated work will fit within any restrictions found on site
• Be happy to work any additional hours (this is paid overtime) as projects progress to critical phases
• Be the “go to person” for internal (colleagues) and external (Client) stakeholders for any technical advice. This will include site meetings with the installation teams and the end customer
• Be aware of Health and Safety procedures, both on and off site

In order to be considered for this Experienced Draughtsperson role it is expected that you will have:

• Either a recognised apprenticeship within engineering, an HNC in Engineering (or equivalent) and experience within engineering
• Proven experience of producing engineering drawings – both detail and General Arrangement – for pipework, supports and steel-work (NOTE – this is NOT a piping design role but includes piping)
• Experience of producing engineering drawings for materials handling, chutes, hoppers, lobster backs etc.
• Extensive experience of AutoCAD for 2D and intermediate experience of AutoCAD for 3D creation. Other packages may be considered but and ability to produce 2D & 3D drawings is key
• Good problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box to get the best designs
• Experience from the heavier side of engineering
• An understanding of manufacturing on the heavier side of engineering (fabrication, welding, machining etc.)
• An ability to provide advice to colleagues and client stakeholders, this includes site visits where required

In addition to working with a well-respected employer, you will be rewarded with;

- A good basic salary based on your skills and experience
- Good Pension
- 33 days holiday per year (25+8)
- Superb training and career development opportunities
The benefits package will be tailored to the individual, in order that it is relevant and a real benefit
