Purpose

In this role you will provide support to the Chief Risk Officer and wider Risk Leadership Team in delivering the services of the Risk Department as a trusted and challenging partner to the business.

Responsibilities

Strategy

• Support the Chief Risk Officer and wider Risk Leadership Team in delivering the Risk strategy and the vision, objectives and values of the Risk Department
• Take a leading role in the advancement of a positive Risk culture

Day to day management

• Provide support to the Chief Risk Officer on Board level matters
• Support the Chief Risk Officer and wider Risk Leadership Team in responding to emerging regulatory / Risk issues
• Responsible for supporting or, in some cases, leading projects for the Chief Risk Officer.  These may be in response to particular cross-functional risk topics and may be sensitive in nature
• Support the Chief Risk Officer by coordinating, drafting and reviewing regular and ad-hoc Risk reports
• Acts and makes decisions based on analysis whilst considering business-level impact and industry precedent
• Co-ordinate and draft; the Risk section of M&G’s strategic plan, presentations for other stakeholders as required, and draft Risk’s view as requested for seeding requests / ACRs
• Assist the CRO with the setting of Risk’s department objectives and monitor progress through the year
• Co-ordinate quarterly risk department briefings including liaising with external presenters as required
• Be proactive, demonstrate well considered judgements and anticipate emerging risks

Internal & external relationships

• Act as a point of contact for M&G senior management and other Prudential business to request ad-hoc information or support
• Develop positive and professional working relationships within the Risk and Compliance Departments, Group-wide Internal Audit and with senior managers throughout M&G and the Prudential Group
• Build and maintain an effective cross departmental internal network to facilitate a deep understanding of the business

Job & Personal Skills

• Relationship building – able to quickly build and maintain successful relationships at all levels across M&G and Prudential
• Self-starter, excellent under pressure, results focused – able to identify opportunities and take initiative and respond rapidly and dynamically to urgent business priorities that arise on an ad-hoc basis – delivering on time and according to brief
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and demands placed upon the Risk Department
• Ability to interpret management information, produce analysis, and present this in a clear manner
• Excellent communication skills - effective and persuasive communicator (both written and verbal) with ability to operate in and communicate at all levels in the organisation. 
• Strong presentation skills, attention to detail and gravitas are essential
• Excellent Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint skills

Essential Knowledge & Experience

• Good understanding of M&G and Prudential Group corporate structure
• Experience of working in the asset management industry
• Experience providing support at Executive level
• Experience of dealing with / working within a Risk function
• Experience of building relationships and communicating with senior management / executives

Desirable Qualifications

• University degree (or equivalent)
• Relevant industry qualifications (such as IMC)
