Adecco are looking for an experience person to join the excise and customs team for a well known Client. The role is based in Welwyn garden city, Hertfordshire working 36 hours a week Monday -Friday, this role is a TEMP role for a minimum of 8 months

Introduction Excise & Customs Executive

The Excise & Customs team, whilst being part of the Finance function reaches out to all parts of the business. Colleagues who buy goods internationally, move goods internationally or calculate the cost of such goods will invariably interact with us. We obtain clearance from HM Revenue & Customs to bring the goods into the UK, and provide technical advice on all things excise and customs. We also have a lot of dealings with the Beers Wines & Spirits the business buys as well as being involved in the biofuel used to heat and power some of our stores. Why? Because they are all subject to excise duty!

The Role

You will assist with ensuring that accurate Customs declarations are made to HMRC on time. Excise duty will also feature in your role, principally liaising with HM Revenue & Customs concerning our exports of alcohol.

Some tasks that are performed within the role are shared with others in the team, this shared ownership within the team ensures that our team has a strong team ethic and enables a supportive culture to thrive. Ideas on how we operate are encouraged so that we can continually innovate our processes and make them our own.

Excellent training will be provided to give you the knowledge needed to perform the role and develop new skills.

Key responsibilities (max 7 bullet points)

*Ensures that all Import declarations are accurate and submitted to HMRC in a timely manner

*Audits receipt of required original documentation

*Ensures the accurate classification of imported goods so that the correct duty is paid to HMRC

*Liaise with International colleagues to prepares adjustments to our Customs declarations for submission to HMRC

*Is able to put into practice various Customs clearance processes to ensure support to my team during holidays and unplanned absence

*Prepare submissions for HMRC that allow to Export goods compliantly and where possible enables refunds of duty

*Great attention to detail - to ensure that we are completing accurate import declarations to HMRC
* Drive and determination to do a great job for the team and the wider business
* Comfortable managing both Internal and External stakeholders to ensure they are giving us accurate data etc.
*Good time management to ensure submission deadlines are met
* Pro-active in resolving queries
* Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook (knowledge of Microsoft access would be a bonus)
*Prior experience in Excise & Customs duty matters is not essential
