The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 51,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
The Wessex Faculty requires an Events Administrator to help manage the busy educational events programme aimed principally at GPs and those training to be GPs. In this varied and busy post you will take responsibility for identifying profitable educational courses as well as all administrative activities related to a number of designated courses. This encompasses everything from finding a venue, publicising the course and overseeing the costs to attending on the day and communicating with attendees. The education programmes are developed by the Faculty boards and led by GP Education Leads and you will need to develop a good working relationship with the Faculty Education Lead, an Events Administrator colleague and with the Faculty Administrator. In addition, the post holder will be required to contribute and assist the existing Wessex Faculty Administrator in providing administrative support to the Faculty.
You will have relevant administrative experience, preferably of managing courses or events, be fully competent in the Microsoft Office suite and ideally have some knowledge of financial software packages. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience of managing basic finances is desirable.
Although based in Andover, courses are held in venues throughout the Faculty area so the successful applicant must have access to their own transport and a flexible approach regarding hours. A flexi-time system is in operation.
The successful candidate will share our corporate values.
In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions.
