Posted 16 September by NHS Business Services Authority

Provide intelligence that informs the success of an outstanding NHS Trust.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), is the largest combined acute and community trust in the UK, with over 23,000 staff that care for over million patients a year. We’re embarking on an unprecedented clinical transformation programme that will revolutionise the way we work. We’ve partnered with a world-class medical software company to introduce Hive, a brand-new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution that will bring all our patient information into one easily accessible place and make our services more effective than ever before.

Hive is the largest initiative of its kind and is backed by a significant multi-million-pound investment. It’s also an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise, join us at the beginning of our journey and develop through a challenging, complex project. With your help, we’ll build on our leading initiatives and transform our services for the benefit of patients and staff alike.

The role

As Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, your work will be pivotal to the success of the Hive EPR programme. Joining us, you’ll immediately benefit from training on the Cogito suite of reporting tools and Healthy Planet Analytics. The insight you provide on their implementation will support our overall analytics strategy.

You’ll also become an Epic data model expert, applying your build and design expertise to analyse current business practices, enable full documentation and deliver quality reporting solutions. Working with a variety of stakeholders to understand extremely complex reporting needs across multiple existing systems, you’ll ensure that the whole reporting system is configured in line with best practice ways of working and supports the full patient pathway. You’ll also be involved in leading workstream planning processes, including the design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions to help improve workflows.

Required skills and experience

We’re looking for a strong working knowledge of reporting solutions and the reporting development cycle, along with competence in using healthcare IT systems. You’ll also need a sound understanding of NHS statutory and contractual deliverables and related issues, with the ability to obtain and present data to address these. It’s essential that you have an in-depth knowledge of NHS reporting requirements, data standards and definitions.

You’ll bring experience of data requirements gathering and report specification documentation, along with a structured, diagnostic approach to finding solutions to complex data issues. On a personal level, you’re a self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a matrix environment. With a ‘can-do’ attitude, you embrace change and can prioritise tasks effectively in response to conflicting priorities and tight timescales.

Great benefits

Join us at the forefront of change and you’ll enjoy plenty of opportunities, together with all the benefits you can expect as an NHS employee. Alongside a competitive salary, you can expect a comprehensive benefits package including generous holiday entitlement, childcare support, flexible working and an NHS pension.

Personal development is important to us at MFT, and you’ll also be able to move across different departments within the trust while taking advantage of quality training and learning schemes.

Diversity & Inclusion at MFT

At MFT, our ambition is to be the best place to work for individuals from every background. That’s why we’re committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating diversity and eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination across our workforce. This way, we can create a truly inclusive environment and make sure our staff represent the communities we serve.
