Tailored Recruitment Consultancy are currently recruiting for a leading waste management company based in Castleford.

The ideal candidate will establish a positive Safety, Health and Environmental culture within the team. Provide technical and legal advice, so that Health and Safety firmly stays at the top of every agenda and is embedded in all aspects of business thinking and decision making.

This opportunity is also open to Graduates with a Degree in Chemistry

Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Initiatives: Take a prominent role as a leader and member of Health & Safety improvement initiative teams

  • EHS Management System: Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of EHS Management Systems to ensure that our company comply with relevant legislation and company EHS policies

  • EHS Statistics: Compile, distribute and present monthly figures to Managers and any key personnel visiting the site

  • Accidents and Incidents: Ensure all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses are investigated thoroughly with root cause analysis. Ensure that control measures and improvements are implemented to prevent reoccurrence and promote a zero accident and safety culture

  • Safety inspections: Conduct scheduled safety inspections

  • Document control: Assist Management in the production, co-ordination and verification of Risk Assessments, safe methods of work, accident investigation reports and EHS records

  • Emergency Procedures: Assist operations in developing and practising emergency procedures

  • New Projects: Involvement in the design and implementation of new developments ensuring that Health and Safety aspects are identified and addressed

  • Communication & reporting: Liaise and communicate with group level EHS counterparts in Europe to ensure good practices, health and safety initiatives and changes in legislation

  • Training: Develop and deliver EHS training strategies and activities, both by yourself and through empowering the line managers.

  • Mindset & awareness: Create a positive safety mind set with all individuals and stakeholders on a daily basis

  • Incident Response: Available for health and safety incidents, providing technical support and advice, evaluation and liaison with Regulatory authorities

    Profile/Competencies

  • Degree level educated and looking to work towards a recognised health and safety qualification (Graduate)
  • Recognised Health and Safety Qualification

  • WAMITAB Qualification - Or willingness to undertake

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Legislation

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Environmental Legislation

  • Effective team player and able to take a leading role

  • Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to motivate, coach and communicate on many levels

  • Able to work with changing business priorities, by managing personal workloads and priorities

  • Pragmatic problem solver

  • Autonomous worker and self-starter

  • Promote and embrace change

  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company

  • Competent IT skills (Excel - Powerpoint - Word)
