About the role

As an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist with Balfour Beatty, you’ll be a key member of our Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability team and responsible for overseeing a number of construction projects in your allocated geographical area. You will have lots of opportunity to get out and about, seeing first-hand how you can make a difference to the way we work.

This is an interesting and varied role, with plenty of autonomy to develop community engagement plans alongside the various stakeholders.

About you

  • You will be a strong communicator with the ability to persuade, influence and promote a positive HSES culture

  • You will have a good understanding of UK policy, environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks and experience in briefing senior managers on changes in legislation or policy and how these might affect their area of work

  • You will have an understanding of current local authority/government policy and future policy within relevant geographical region and how these can affect Balfour Beatty, customers, suppliers, communities & stakeholders requirements

  • Show the ability to develop business cases to support the implementation of the Sustainability Blueprint

  • Ability to undertake project planning, project management and work to budgets

Desirable skills

  • Relevant environmental or sustainability degree

  • Practitioner Member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (or equivalent)

  • Experience in construction environment

  • Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area
