My client secondary school, located in Birmingham, is currently looking to recruit a English Language or English Literature Graduate to join them as a Graduate Learning Mentor. This is a full time, term time position that will start at the beginning of September and run for the full academic year.
As an English Graduate, you will be working in the school’s English department along side some excellent teaching staff. You will be tasked with supporting their English Teachers and their pupils. You will be spread across different year groups depending on the demands of the department. The school require candidates to assist in raising the competency and attainment levels of pupils learning English as well as supporting GCSE and A Level pupils. Certain pupils find learning English difficult so the ability to find different and innovative methods to aid learning will stand you in excellent stead.
As the role of Graduate Mentor is new to the school they are wishing to look at the best way to utilise the skills and knowledge of the individual to the best fit for their pupils.
As with all Graduate Learning Support roles the demands placed on candidates are wide and varied. One day is seldom similar to the next or the previous. At times, you may be expected to work one-on-one with a pupil who may have specific barriers to learning. At other times, you could be expected to break off from the main class with a small group of high achieving students that require work of a more challenging nature.
This is the idea stepping stone to a career as English Teacher and will provide you with all the necessary tools and experience to ensure you excel on your future career.
If you’re motivated, passionate about becoming a English teacher and are dedicated to developing young minds then my client school would like to see your CV. Please don’t hesitate in emailing a copy to Patrick at Edustaff today.
