This position reports directly to the Production Manager. Reporting to the Production Supervisor is a Charge Hand as well as the hourly paid assembly employees. Position has functional responsibility for safety the efficient running & high productivity of both shops.
Purpose of Position
The primary mission of the Production Supervisor is to deliver on requirements, production deadlines, efficiency metrics and the day to day running of a hydraulic assembly environment. This is with safety and quality in mind, creating relationships and working closely with other local functions. Standing in for the Production Manager when unavailable would be expected.
The Production Supervisor’s primary contacts are both internal and external. As well as ensuring the shops run safely and efficiently the role harbors close relationships with other production managers, supervisors, warehouse functions, quality department, production planners, buyers and design engineers. External contacts may include suppliers, customers and employees from other sites.
Ideally have served an apprenticeship and/or have a good mechanical or hydraulic understanding. Knowledge of manufacturing/MRP systems would be an advantage, be computer literate to understand Microsoft Window functions.
1 Maintain a safe work environment.
2 Plan, activate and control daily production schedules to meet targets and metrics.
3 Ensure correct issue and control of planning of materials and tooling to all jobs.
4 Manage the Supervisory and hourly work force within the context of sound management practices, good human relations and union agreements.
5 Ensure that personnel have all the correct PPE & use it, to have all the necessary equipment to safely carry out their jobs.
6 Purchase various supplies used in the day to day running of the shops.
7 Resolve disciplinary/grievance issues within the departments.
8 Consultation with the production manager and trade union representatives.
9 Help maintain records relating to employee hours worked, time & attendance, contract costs, vacations, accident reports or any other record that may be required.
10 Liase with maintenance department personal to ensure all plant is operational and safe.
11 Ensure all employees maintain correct Kronos swipe/SAP activity.
12 Maintain training/competency records for employees in the departments.
13 Stand in meetings if Production Manager is unavailable.
14 Cover for Production Manager when he is away from work.
